Southeast Essex Design Competition
23 March 2017
This year has been a bumper year for the Deanes artists. We took a small group of eight students from across years 9, 10 and 11 to the annual Southeast Essex Art competition, which has been running for over 30 years.
All of our entries were successful with 2 students winning Silver awards and 5 students winning Gold awards. Cyd Onley also won the ‘Best Secondary School, Excellence in Art’ award and Antonia O’Liffe won the coveted ‘Rotary Club Award’ which is the highest honour for best in show!
The Deanes students were a credit to the academy and spoke at length to the judges about their work. Many judges commented on how smart, articulate, passionate and polite our students were. We are very pleased with the results and continue to keep up the high standards needed to compete against other Essex schools.
Congratulations to all our entrants and a special thank you to Melvin, our minibus driver who helped to put the artwork up and take it down again. Keep up the good work all you artisans and remember….do something amazing!> >
