Short story comprehension

At the end of this week I would like you to email your class teacher one piece of work that you have completed that you are pleased with.

It is important that you read as much as you can to ensure that you are exposing yourself to different genres, styles and vocabulary. This will prepare you for whatever extract they give you in your English Language exam.

This week you will be looking at a variety of short stories and answering questions on what you read.

Today’s short story is called  Click Clack The Rattlebag by Neil Gaiman.

Read the story first, looking up any words that you are unsure of the meaning.
Next, answer in full, the questions that accompany it.

English
Short Stories

Today’s short story is called The Darkness Out There by Penelope Lively. Follow the same process as yesterday

  • Read

The short story today is a little longer and so the activities will span today and tomorrow. This is a classic Gothic story with a real twist at the end.

Today you are to read The Monkey's Paw and then complete the vocabulary activity at the end.

English
The Monkey's Paw

Refer back to The Monkey's Paw that you read yesterday and complete one of the following:

1. Complete a mind map for one of the characters in the story

2. Explain the end of the story. What is the old man's last wish?

Remember to to email your class teacher one piece of work that you have completed that you are pleased with.
