The Deanes

School Uniform

School uniform must been worn correctly at all times throughout the year.  Our uniform requirements are listed below:

Wearing of Jewellery

The only permissible jewellery is a watch and, for pierced ears, a maximum of a single plain gold or silver coloured stud may be worn in each ear; no other piercings are permitted. Studs in pierced noses/eyebrows and other parts of the body are not permitted. No other jewellery or unauthorised badges are allowed.

Hair

Hair should be the student’s natural colour, with no extremes in style, such as shaved heads. In addition, there should be no extreme highlighting, e.g. red, pink, blue, bleached blonde or ‘dip dyed’ hair. Hair clips must be discreet and not overtly patterned or bejewelled.

Hooded Tops

Hooded tops are not allowed at this school with the exception of PE hoodie. Students will be asked to remove them if they are worn and they will be confiscasted until the end of the school day.

Make-up

Make-up should be very discreet. Nail varnish, nail extensions, false nails or eye-lashes should not be worn.

Adjustments to uniform may be made for religious or medical reasons following discussion with the relevant Head of Year.

If for any reason an item of uniform is damaged and cannot be worn, a note from a parent/carer must be presented to the relevant Form Tutor. We will allow 48 hours for the item to be replaced, after which the student will be removed from general circulation.

The school maintains a limited stock of second hand uniform, which is given to children if their uniform becomes damaged or soiled during the school day. Second hand uniform is also provided for families in need of such support. This is allocated on a case by case basis. If a parent/carer believes they are in need of a second-hand uniform then they should contact the school.
